Over two inspiring days, athletes from both nations came together to celebrate inclusion, friendship, and the unifying power of sport. This year’s event featured three Paralympic disciplines — Wheelchair Rugby, Boccia, and Goalball — showcasing not only competition but also connection, teamwork, and respect across borders.
The atmosphere in Atambua was electric: passionate players, dedicated coaches, and an enthusiastic local crowd created a spirit of community rarely seen at sporting events. Wheelchair rugby matches brought intensity and excitement, boccia courts tested precision and strategy, and the silence of goalball matches revealed the pure focus and trust that define the sport.
More than just a tournament, “Battle at the Border” symbolized what sport can achieve — breaking down barriers, building understanding, and strengthening ties between two neighboring countries. The event highlighted how inclusion in sport continues to grow across the region, thanks to local organizations, volunteers, and the ongoing collaboration between Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Sport has no borders.
